I just waited for it to subside before doing anything else (Lange Lombardstraat) revisits a work I first presented at Susan Bites, a beautiful underground art space ran by @thebalcony_thehague in 2021. Back then I was living in an apartment along Lange Lombardstraat, a street in Den Haag, Netherlands. One day, I had a headache that lasted the entire day. I remember working in my room in the afternoon. There was sunlight filtering through the plants by my window, casting light across my face before slowly drifting through the room. I remember not taking painkillers. I remember moving to different spots around the room to avoid it. And I remember the headache worsening. I just waited for it to subside before doing anything else.
It always surprises me that these seemingly insignificant moments become anchor points for my memory, and in retrospect, these memories remind me of the actions and circumstances that shape who i am. Since then, the plants have probably grown and withered, the furniture has changed, and I have long since left.
